Clint Haverty Joins NRHA Hall of Fame

The National Reining Horse Association is pleased to announce that Clint Haverty, Krum, Texas, will be formally inducted into the NRHA Hall of Fame at the annual NRHA Awards Banquet held in conjunction with the NRHA Convention, February 9-12 in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Most everyone is aware of Clint’s expertise in the NRHA show pen. He earned his first NRHA paycheck in Open competition 1981. He has been a consistent NRHA Top Ten Open finalist in NRHA’s annual divisional standings and has earned his share of paychecks in NRHA major events. In 1986 he was the Limited Open Derby Champion on Billy Bar Flash; In 1990 he won the NRHA Superstakes on Kelinds Taffy Jac; and in 1996, Clint was the NRHA Futurity Open Division Reserve Champion on Gunner (APHA Colonels Smokingun), who was inducted into the NRHA Hall of Fame in 2003. Clint’s NRHA Lifetime Earnings are approaching $450,000.

Clint is also viewed as a mentor to many young trainers and an excellent coach who, according to long time client Mike Martin, “Meticulously prepares both his students and horses for all phases of competition.” But in the tight-knit reining horse community, Clint is also known for his untiring efforts to promote NRHA and the sport of Reining. He has served on the NRHA Board of Directors for many years where his knowledge, expertise, and dedication have combined to be valuable assets to our association. He has also been a volunteer participating trainer in the annual NRHA Rookie Day, which benefits the Reining Horse Sports Foundation Crisis Fund.

In fact, Clint is well known for his extraordinary generosity of spirit and willingness to help his fellow reiners in their time of need. For instance, when Tim Lynch was struggling with a serious back injury, Clint went to his farm, picked up several of his horses and continued the training process at no cost to Lynch. “Other trainers followed Clint’s lead,” says Lynch. “And we were not only able to meet our obligations, but we were also given a peace of mind that helped my recovery.”

NRHA is not only pleased, but also proud to call Clint Haverty a member of its elite: the NRHA Hall of Fame.
